UP Expands Global Partnerships, Signs MOUs with Two Leading Taiwanese Universities to Strengthen Nursing and Pharmaceutical Sciences

 


Advancing Education and Health Research to the Global Stage


The University of Phayao (UP) continues to strengthen its international academic network by signing Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with two leading higher education institutions in Taiwan, reinforcing collaboration in nursing and pharmaceutical sciences. The partnerships aim to enhance the quality of graduate production and elevate health-related education and research to international standards.


On Monday, January 12, 2026, Associate Professor Supakorn Pongbangpho, Ph.D., President of the University of Phayao, along with the university's executive team, visited Taiwan to participate in the signing of an MOU. The delegation included Wuthichai Chairinkam, Ph.D., Vice President for Student Quality; Associate Professor Phanintra Teeranon, Ph.D., Assistant to the President; Assistant Professor Dao Weiangkham, Ph.D., Dean of the School of Nursing; and Associate Professor Dr. Surasak Saokaew, R.Ph.D., Dean of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, as well as executives from both schools. This visit marks a significant milestone in UP's international engagement in education and research.

On this occasion, the School of Nursing, led by Assistant Professor Dao Weiangkham, Ph.D., Dean of the School of Nursing, and its executive team, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Chang Gung University of Science and Technology (CGUST). The agreement was formally signed by Dr. Jun-Yu Fan, President of CGUST. This collaboration aims to promote knowledge exchange in healthcare, advance the nursing profession, and foster international academic cooperation.

At the same time, the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, led by Associate Professor Dr. Surasak  Saokaew, R.Ph.Dean, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and its executive team, signed an MOU with Chang Gung University (CGU). The agreement was signed by Dr. Ming-Je Tang, President of CGU. The partnership emphasizes joint development in pharmaceutical research, innovation, academic advancement, and organizational management, with a shared commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).


Through these collaborations, the University of Phayao places strong emphasis on promoting health and well-being through pharmaceutical innovation, research related to medicines and natural products, and the development of competencies and professional skills among students and staff through institutional exchanges. These MOUs open valuable opportunities for UP students and personnel to access international knowledge, advanced technologies, and global academic networks, jointly driving innovation and contributing to sustainable social development in the future.
